MY SERVICES

Preserving Irreplaceable Antique
& One of a Kind Heirlooms and Treasures

I practice the art of crystal restoration which involves the removal of chips in leaded crystal stemware, candlesticks, decanter rims, crystal sculptures and rims of small bowls. The process is labor intensive involving grinding, beveling and polishing. In most cases, the lips of chipped goblets, pitchers, and vases can be restored to their original beauty.

Repair of goblets with chipped rims:

Each piece is 100% restored.  Remember the depth of the chip determines the loss of height of the goblet.  Just remember that all crystal goblets are hand blown and no goblet is not exactly the same height.

Repair of chipped bases on crystal goblets, candlesticks, etc.:

The removal of chips on outside of bases. A process of grinding and polishing to reduce the edge of the base to remove all of the chip. The base edge will be brought back to a fire polish.

Repair of crystal sculptures:

Some damage sculptures can be reshaped through grinding and polishing methods.

Bonding of broken crystal stemware:

The gluing of two pieces of crystal that fit together exactly.  The bonding agent does not fill in gaps. The bonding agent does not turn yellow and withstands normal use.

Repair of broken stems from drinking goblets:

The cutting away of broken stem and replacing with a new stem.

CUSTOMERS SHOULD NOT TRY TO GLUE BROKEN STEMWARE.

THE REMOVAL OF THE GLUE ADDS TO THE TIME AND COST OF THE PIECE
